The inspiration for KAI came from the same place most of greatest achievements have- from a conversation with my 4 year old son, Kai. We were sitting in the office of his speech therapist filling out a stack of papers, in an attempt to get another stack of paper for our upcoming daycare tours. Kai has Autism and Type 1 Diabetes, both of which he handles with such a gentle spirit and sometimes force him to exercise his patience- a patience that has never extended to his curiosity. Soon, in true fashion he asked, "Mom are you working?" Although I quickly replied, "No," the conversation lingered in my mind. For families like my life is so riddled by paperwork it really does feel like a second job sometimes.

Fast forward to the next evening, and two failed daycare center tours later- cut short after being told they couldn't meet my son's medical needs, I thought back to the brief conversation from the day before and had an idea. What if I can use my skillset to help provide a solution. My job is being able to identify pain points, so I did, childcare is one of the few things destined to affect most families, and even so, unlike most industries which have jumped aboard the digital age, the childcare industry is still behind the curve. Beyond that medical inclusion is hard to find- not due to lack of trying on directors and owners parts- but because documentation must be precise, and the tech giants that dominate the industry have forgotten about kids like mine. KAI is a love letter to families and center owners/directors alike because it's designed with you both in mind.
